Our client was founded in 2010 and is a fast-growing EdTech company from Amsterdam. They develop e-learning software that helps teachers save time while students learn and stay motivated. They make sure everything is ready to be live and enjoyed by their users. They have developed a learning environment for STEM and offer digital courses that are shaking up the online educational sector. Inside the company, they offer a friendly international team. English is their language of choice in the office. You can expect a informal welcoming work environment, that will take care of your and offer a healthy work-life balance. Their new office space has just completed construction and offers a high-tech, beautiful environment. It is located 10 minutes on foot from Amsterdam Science Park station, but apart from their weekly get-together, you are free to work from home.

About the job

Here's what you'll be working on:

• An e-learning software that helps students learn through digital courses and stay motivated, The techstack consists out of PHP, MySQL, jQuery and Bootstrap
• A Laravel backend in the shape of a REST+JSON API that more and more endpoints will transition to over time. This transition is ongoing and will be a big part of your tasks.
• A refactor of their frontend in React with TypeScript, MUI and React Query, that will replace the existing front-end one step at a time.
• They mainly use Linux (with the exception of some, who prefer working with Mac).

Do you feel motivated about the things you'll be working on? Great! This is what they are looking for in a new team member:

• You are a senior Web Developer with at least 7 years of work experience where you can closely collaborate with the team of developers and product owners to provide an innovative e-learning platform for students, universities, and other educational institutions in the Netherlands and abroad.
• You have experience with modern Laravel (+ React) applications and would like to help them transition the platform, and you don’t mind getting your hands dirty in figuring out existing business logic. At other times, you are excited to add features to our existing platform, which will impact many students, teachers, and content creators.
• You like to stay up to date on the latest technologies and best practices, and see the transition to a new and modern stack as a chance to do it right. When you write code, you like it to be readable, reusable, well-documented, unit-tested, and type-safe.
• You can review work from others and help them maintain high standards.
• Although you’re not a DevOps engineer, you have set up environments before and know how things work in production.
