Our client is building a platform that brings banking, invoicing, and bookkeeping together in one clear, integrated experience. No more jumping between tools – just one place to manage everything that matters to small business owners.

We’re helping them find a Lead Software Engineer who’s not only technically strong, but also excited to mentor others, lead by example, and shape how the team builds and ships product.

Functie omschrijving

You’ll lead a team of 4+ engineers working on core parts of the platform – from the backend services that power bank and bookkeeping integrations, to high-volume transactional flows and event-driven infrastructure. This isn’t about building internal tools – this is product that people use every day and rely on to run their business.

What you'll be responsible for:

Working closely with product to scope and prioritise projects (think: smarter payment flows, realtime reconciliation, scalable syncs with bookkeeping tools).
Defining and evolving system architecture to keep up with fast growth.
Coaching your team, reviewing code, and helping people level up.
Writing clean, production-grade code in Node.js and TypeScript.

Some of the work ahead includes:

Scaling event-driven pipelines to handle high volumes of financial data.
Designing and building integrations with Dutch banks and accounting platforms.
Improving monitoring and alerting across a serverless architecture.
Helping introduce SST to streamline deployments and developer workflows.
Working with sensitive data and applying best practices around security and privacy.

You’ve led technical teams before – officially or just by naturally stepping up. You enjoy solving real problems, building things properly, and helping others do their best work.

Strong backend engineering skills with Node.js and TypeScript
Experience with distributed systems, microservices and event-driven architecture
Ability to mentor, guide and inspire engineers around you
Business-aware: you understand how technical decisions impact the product and user
