Company Profile

Our client is a fast-growing SaaS scale-up in the ed-tech market. They currently have a team of around 60 people with 15 developers in Nijkerk and Amsterdam, with several nationalities, and a 50/50 male to female ratio. Their software is being used for digital testing & examination, designing online learning paths and building ePortfolios. Their software is flexible and has a lot of features and possibilities that have a tight integration with many of our customers. They have a very high customer satisfaction rate and are proud of what we make.

The job position is at their office in a former school building in a nice setting in Nijkerk, near Amersfoort. They have an open organizational culture and work with an experienced team of developers, implementation specialists, servicedesk- and sales employees.They currently have three development teams working on three different products. 

Job Description

You will be working on an existing software product which is already being used on a very large scale (more than 100.000 active users last year!) by well-known organizations in the Netherlands and Belgium. Ranging from higher education institutions and most MBO-schools in the Netherlands, and a broad range of exam-institutions, as well as companies and municipalities.

They have ambitions to rapidly scale up internationally, giving you a huge user base that will really profit from your work.

Your daily routine will involve tasks like:

• Help design and improve their architecture by further integrating Symfony Framework and novel design patterns like DDD.
• Be a technical resource for less experienced co-workers
• Improve and refactor their code base to make sure it’s up-to-date (and decide which parts need to be prioritized)
• Add new features to our product together with your coworkers
• Analyze and solve complex problems coming from customers or other teams
• Proactively search for performance and security issues and make sure they are solved
• Write unit-tests for most of your code

Job Requirements

You recognize yourself in the following description:

• You have a lot of technical knowledge of PHP and writing good MySQL/MariaDB-queries
• Recent experience with Symfony and some understanding of the inner workings of Symfony
• Familiar with modern application design principles like Domain-driven Design
• Most of the following technologies/standards ring a bell, and you know where they tie into the big picture: SAML, OpenAPI, job queues (Gearman, Beanstalk, RabbitMQ), REST, Vue, load-balancing, Composer, Docker, Vagrant, Tailwind, Psalm/PHPStan, Memcache, PSR-standards
• Security minded: you are familiar with all caveats that come with processing personal data and know how to develop secure code
• Some experience with front-end development (jQuery / Vue / Vite / Yarn)
