Front-end developer

What do they do?

Our client is a family-owned company, now in its 3rd generation, and operates as a purpose-driven digital retailer. With over 150 physical stores across the Netherlands, they focuses on mission-driven brands like Sketchers and Timberland. They also franchise particular brands with their back office systems. They have a significant online presence, were they use an omnichannel platform strategy. In addition, they sell shoes on various marketplaces, including Wehkamp, Zalando, Bol.com, Kleertjes, and WE Fashion.

They place great emphasis on sustainability and have a loyalty program with approximately 1.5 million members. With a team of around 1,300 employees, they  strives to manage most of its logistics operations in-house from their headquarters in North-Holland. They have their own e-commerce platform, and while the majority of their revenue comes from physical stores, they are actively working to grow and enhance their online channels.

What are you going to do?

As a Front-end Developer, you will play a crucial role in driving the profitable growth of their online platforms. Your main focus will be on user experience and bridging the gap between their online and offline operations. Working closely with a cross-functional team, you will contribute to the development of multiple products, with approximately 90% of your efforts dedicated to the platform. Which is mainly adding new stuff! You will also collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as the purchasing team, to improve order processing and integrate data into their data warehouse. The development team at Nelson takes end-to-end responsibility, from designing and architecting solutions to implementing and testing them.

Projects you can be thinking of: Implementing features, creating the front end for the order poles in the stores, and a lot more as their backlog is huge. 

What we’re looking for

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in front-end development, with expertise in React and TypeScript.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, with experience in translating designs into visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces.
• Experience with UI/UX design and the ability to collaborate with the design team for graphical implementation.
• Solid understanding of browser behavior and compatibility issues.
• Familiarity with Redis and Celery is a plus.
• Previous experience working in an Agile environment, with knowledge of Scrum methodologies.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset to work effectively within a compact team.

The stack our client uses:

• Front-end: React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, CSS.
• Backend: Python, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Redis, Celery.
• CI/CD pipeline for automated testing.

Working conditions

• Competitive salary range up to €4,300 per month, based on experience.
