AI Engineer – Early Stage Startup
An Amsterdam-based AI startup is looking for a Founding AI Engineer to help build AI-native software and agentic workflows that automate real operational processes. You’ll work directly with the founders and customers on production-grade AI applications within a highly technical early-stage environment.

Job description
As a Founding AI Engineer, you will help design and build scalable software systems and modern applications within an early-stage product environment.
You’ll work closely with the founders on technical architecture, product development and engineering challenges across the platform.
Responsibilities include:
- Building scalable software applications
- Developing backend systems and APIs
- Working with modern development tooling
- Designing integrations and technical solutions
- Contributing to architecture and product direction
- Collaborating closely with founders and stakeholders
This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy ownership, autonomy and building products from an early stage.
Job requirements
- Strong software engineering fundamentals
- Experience building modern web applications
- Experience with Python / Typescript, modern AI tooling.
- Interest in modern software development and AI technologies
- Full stack mindset
- Entrepreneurial attitude
- Strong communication skills
- Comfortable working in an early-stage startup environment

Benefits
